Ingredients

  • 200 g local rolled oats
  • 125 g butter
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons golden syrup
  • Optional: 50g raisins or chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking tray with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Add the brown sugar to the melted butter and stir until smooth.
  • Stir in the golden syrup until everything is well combined.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and add the rolled oats. Mix until all oats are coated.
  • Optionally, add raisins or chocolate chips for extra flavor.
  • Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking tray and spread it evenly.
  • Press the mixture down gently with the back of a spoon to create an even surface.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the flapjacks turn golden brown.
  • Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool in the tray for a few minutes.
  • While still slightly soft, cut the flapjacks into squares or rectangles using a sharp knife.
  • Allow the flapjacks to cool completely in the tray before removing them.
  • Serve and enjoy the delicious flapjacks with a cup of tea or as a delightful snack anytime!
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
